August 22nd, 2020 was not the day we were expecting but it was everything that we needed it to be. You picture your wedding day your entire life and never in a million years could we have guessed that our wedding would fall during a global pandemic. All things considered, we are so happy that we decided to move forward with our day even if the entire thing was different than our original vision.
We went from 250 guests to 40 guests and from an outdoor ceremony and driving shed reception to a church ceremony and backyard reception. As a wedding planner, it was really hard for me to finally accept this new plan, but once I did, I fell in love with it.
One of the major changes was that Cam and I were no longer going to see each other prior to the ceremony and this was one of my favourite things that we changed. The butterflies in my stomach prior to walking down the aisle were unlike anything I have ever felt. We both discussed later and agreed that the moment we saw each other, all of our nerves disappeared.
We were so excited to tell the other person about our day’s that we rambled on the entire signing process and drive to our photo location. Cam completely forgot that he was still hooked up to our videographer the entire time! Whoops, sorry Liam!
It was really hard not having our entire wedding party standing up with us and I’m still sad about this. However, it would have been the majority of our guests and in this tiny church it would not have been possible. We are so glad that we had this group in attendance and they all made us feel so special that day.
I even ended up changing the colours and theme of this wedding to be different than the original vision. I wanted a lot of bright and happy colours and our decorator and florist pulled it off perfectly. The space was meant to be an escape from everything going on in the world and it truly felt like a fairytale.
Another change that we made was having our family make the meal for our reception. I was really apprehensive about this because I didn’t want any guests having to do work that day but they did an incredible job! One of our most favourite elements was my Uncle Dan’s 1937 Chevy pickup, driving it made us feel like we were in a movie!
