My name is Sandra Stewart and I am the owner of Centre Stage Medial Aesthetics. I’ve been a RN for almost 27 years now but have always been passionate about helping others looks and feel their best. I used to sell makeup and considered getting a certificate in microblading to increase my sales. However, after researching my options, I decided to focus on cosmetic injections and started my business out of my home in the fall of 2018. From that time onwards, I’ve continued to grow the business to where it is now and am renting space in Dr. Hasegawa’s former clinic site.
Isis Manning joined me as a business partner at the end of 2019. She is certified in facials, dermaplaning and laser treatments. Isis hasn’t been able to work with clients recently due to working with COVID patients in her full time role as a nurse at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She looks forward to joining me in the clinic soon.
Since I started my training, I’ve come to enjoy learning about aesthetics & have been pretty passionate about how to achieve the best looking skin for a client. I never thought I would do cosmetic injections as part of my business but then I had my first botox treatment five weeks after starting my training. I was so impressed by client results that I wanted to try it out for myself. I have no regrets about cosmetic injections and am so happy that I now include this as one of my services. I feel good about my appearance & will use my own personal experience as a part of my education to clients in an initial consultation, being able to advise them on what to expect.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer the ability to slow dow how you look while aging. We have a variety of treatments, including laser treatments, facials, micro-needling, dermaplaning and cosmetic injections to help refresh the face. Our goal is to help our clients look and feel their best while getting the skin care results they have been hoping for.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
This business has forced me to leave my comfort zone & educate myself more about running a business. I see our business as light-hearted compared to what we deal with in our jobs outside of Centre Stage Medical Aesthetics as nurses.
WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
It’s a lot harder than it looks to run a medical aesthetics business. I have had nurses approach me for direction on how to get into the business for cosmetic injections. They thought it looked easy & that it’s easy money. It takes a lot of time to build your clientele & reputation for this kind of business. It doesn’t happen overnight and there is a lot of hard work that goes into it. You cannot learn this type of business in a weekend.
WHAT IS A CHALLENGE YOUR BUSINESS IS CURRENTLY FACING?
I think COVID19 will hang around for a while yet and continue to be a challenge for our business. The unknown and uncertainty of what lays ahead of us right now is one of our greatest challenges. I think clients worry about their finances and as a result will be hesitant to spend money on the “nice-to-haves” such as medical aesthetics.
What do you love about the business community in Stratford?
I love how welcoming the business community in Stratford is. Other spa owners, lash artists & makeup artists have been kind & supportive as we start our new business. They’re all female dominated businesses & we are all supportive of one another and rooting each other on!
